How Dishwits researches, reviews and corrects guides

At a glance

Understand the distinction between manufacturer specifications, attributed evidence and actual testing.

Policy updated October 11, 2026.

Dishwits publishes independent Starlink guidance to help you choose a setup, check compatibility and solve practical problems. MakerFrontier owns Dishwits. Our aim is to make the evidence, its limits and your next step clear.

What our guidance is based on

We distinguish manufacturer specifications, retailer listings, attributed third-party observations and our own calculations. A manufacturer specification describes what the manufacturer states. A retailer listing describes a particular offer. Neither becomes a Dishwits field test simply because we cite it.

Our research-based guides use manufacturer documentation and published service information. We do not claim independent field or laboratory testing for those guides. When we publish firsthand testing, the article should identify the equipment, method, conditions and results. Personal experience in a contributor’s biography is not evidence that they tested every product on the site.

Exact models and dated sources

Power requirements, compatibility and plan details depend on the exact model, location and offer. We associate managed facts with their source and check date. A source changing is a reason to investigate; it does not mean that every number in it changed. Calculators show their assumptions and produce estimates, not guaranteed real-world results.

For a purchase, check the current seller listing and the manufacturer’s requirements for your dish. Service availability, checkout charges and local restrictions should be confirmed with Starlink.

AI assistance and editorial checks

AI tools assist with research, drafting, source checks and maintenance. Our managed-evidence workflow separates proposed facts from their review and uses separate identities for proposals and approvals. Draft, expired or invalidated shared facts are marked as unresolved until reviewed. A passing technical check alone does not establish that a claim is correct.

Automated checks are not described as a personal review by Ben or Tom. A named author or reviewer credit applies only when that person performed the identified work. Read about Ben, Tom and the publication.

Updates and corrections

We update guides as sources, equipment and offers change. Article dates identify publication and content updates; they do not mean every claim was physically retested on that date. We do not fill missing evidence with a guessed value.

To report an error, email [email protected] with the page URL, the passage in question and a supporting source when available. Corrections should retain a traceable record of the earlier evidence and the change. Our contact page also covers reader questions and broken links.

Dishwits includes Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Purchases take place on Amazon; Dishwits does not process the order. Read the affiliate disclosure.

Product cards help you compare intended use and compatibility checks. They are not a claim that we have tested the item or a guarantee that it fits your setup. Prices and availability can change; the offer shown at checkout governs the purchase. We use product imagery supplied through the product feed when available. Explanatory illustrations should be labeled and are not evidence of a physical test.
